The Italian Association of Canyon Guides (AIGC) was founded in 2010 with the goal of establishing a qualified role in the field of canyon guiding and giving it proper professional recognition. The training process for Canyon Guides — long and demanding — provides them with the essential technical knowledge for safe guiding. A Canyon Guide has expertise in rope and water progression in canyons, whitewater swimming, safety, rescue and self-rescue, as well as meteorology, geology, communication, and pedagogy — all fields that confer a high standard of quality.
